Never too old to learn. Enjoyed the lesson learnt new skills. Great coffee tooWill be back for sure
Considering this was a really mixed age and ability introduction group I think Sam managed to get things just right giving a little more time to those who were inexperienced and just giving pointers to those with climbinging experience, whilst safety was obviously an important factor he emphasised the points in an interesting way rather than the monosyllabic statement or constant overemphasis that is often given at other adventure sport venues. The centre was clean and had good facilities and I didn't need to re-mortgage to buy some soft drinks (all cafe prices seemed reasonable). What a refreshing change to find a facility that appears to be run in a way you would hope it would.I have 12 and 13 year old daughters and we spent nearly 4 hours there without a complaint !! Not a Kevin and Perry strop to be seen !!Yes..... we will be going back.
My daughter along with 10 friends celebrated her 6th birthday by playing traditional games around the ship and castle. The 2 hosts looking after them did an awesome job of making sure they had a great time. Nice 👍 Highly recommend, cheers.
Group really enjoyed it. Great games. Great fun
A thoroughly enjoyable intro to bouldering. Lovely atmosphere and brilliant approachable staff/instructors.
My daughter had a fabulous birthday party at red spider, the instructor was very inclusive and encouraging.
Since most of the reviews seem to be from keen parents on behalf of their young children, I thought I'd give some feedback from an experienced adult climber's point of view. I've only vistited twice so far.The climbing is vast! There's plenty at all grades to keep everyone happy coming two or more times a week. The competition wall has some easier climbs (V2/V3), as well as the expected hard ones, which is nice. The mats are soft and good at absorbing falls, which is not always the case at other gyms. Some of the problems I did were thoughtfully set - a sign of a good route setter. Was pleased to see some problems with volumes, which I really like. I can't comment yet on the knowledge of the staff, or the friendliness of the place. The one significant problem for me is the music is played REALLY LOUD. I like background music, but it's just overpowering (hence one star off). I guess the staff haven't yet experienced the un-joy of tinitus. I will be back to enjoy the climbing, sadly with ear plugs.
First time for my 2 boys (6 and 7) and they absolutely loved it. Both boys suffer from anxiety which manifests itself in different ways however Chris put both boys at ease instantly by making the session fun and his enthusiasm shone through! Great facility, great instruction and genuinely needs nice people! We will be coming my back soon.
We have been to Red Spider a few times before with our children to venture in to the Castle but this was the first time they took part in a bouldering session. Their instructor was great; friendly, safety conscious and engaging. My two children had a brilliant time and we will be booking to come back very soon.
Chris made me feel relaxed and comfortable and he explained everything clearly. I highly recommend doing the introduction! Can't wait to return with my friend, who already climbs at Red Spider regularly, to practice the techniques I learned and have some fun!
